Words of the Wise

Team members have repeatedly expressed that one of the benefits of working at Christian Living Communities is getting to know the residents and clients and having them share their life experiences. Because these stories often impart wisdom and humor, we’ve come up with a way for more residents to share and more team members to hear.

Christian Living Communities is tapping the wisdom of residents and sharing it weekly with team members in “Vital Vignettes,” a new feature of the Promise script, a weekly update that focuses on the organization’s values and important organizational news.

The vignettes offer words of wit, wisdom and introspection. There are no set topics or guidelines. Residents are simply asked, “If you could share something with team members, what would it be?”

Holly Creek resident Carol Hodges answered this way “The one thing that YOU have that nobody else has is YOU. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So think and write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.”

Patrick Shelton, Masterpiece Living Coordinator at Holly Creek, helped come up with the idea and said the vignettes give all team members a chance to learn from residents. “It definitely builds a sense of community.”

"Clermont Park is a great place to live. You can participate as much or as little as you want in community activities. You can meet as many people as you like, and they are generally open, so I’ve made a lot of friends in the short time I’ve been here. "
